Day 6 (07/14) - Prince George to Dawon Creek, BC

Good bye Jimmy Good Bye

Every campground is a host friend, Jimmy, to me. It provided me with shelter at night and, frequently, with new friends from all over the country and world. Each morning when I was leaving the camp, I loved to hum the familiar old song
“Goodbye Jimmy goodbye. I will see you again but I don’t know when. Goodbye Jimmy goodbye….”

It is only a few days into the trip; I have already regarded mountains, lakes and animals I encounter as my extended family. Driving alone, I have very little human intervention or interaction while enjoy the amazing surroundings. I feel the closeness to the world of nature immensely. My thoughts are clear; my heart fills with joy. I know too well this experience is a privilege granted not earned. I know my life will be forever changed when I complete this journey. Even though it is not clear to me how that is to take place.

Passing Prince George, take Highway 97 to Dawson Creek is a relaxing and beautiful stretch of highway.

Chetwynd, a forestry and mining town, is 45 miles west of Dawson
Creek. It is the "Forest Capital Canada" as they call themselves.

Chetwynd has also earned the title as "Chain Saw Capital of the World"
for its large collection of chain saw sculptures.

Before entering Dawson Creek

Mile "0" located at downtown Dawson Creek.

The driving distance from Dawson Creek to Delta Junction has been changed from historical 1422 to 1398 due to recent construction and re-routing.
