A Trip, A Journey, A Gift
I told friends I am taking a road trip to Alaska, alone, one of these few days whenever I am ready. And this is the day. I am ready to leave not because I have all details taken care of. Rather, it is because I have come to the point where I feel comfortable accepting any unforeseeable consequences either on the road or back at home that were not well prepared or arranged.
Bringing with me is a box of books, maps, manuals and brochures that I collected over past few years for this trip. I hope what I know now will give me insights to deal with what I do not yet know. It is a trip I want to take since a few years ago. I trust my gut feeling and excite about seeing how the journey unfolds every day.
I feel fortunate to be able to set aside a brief period of my life and experience it “my way”, one sure step at a time. I know it is a different kind of luxury not everyone is prepared for.
My birthday is in August. By the time I come home I will be 58 years old. Let this be my birthday gift!!
Cross US-Canada Border at Sumas,WA-Abbotsford, BC.
Arrive Harrison and stay at Harrison Hot Springs Campground.
This is my "mobile home" for next 6 weeks. Shelters on the road, rain or shine.
