A Conversation with Mosquitoes

I decided not to travel today, instead, staying in campground taking time to do some reading and enjoy the beautiful setting. The only problem was the mosquitoes. They seemed to be in attack mode all the time despite that I had sprayed myself generously with insect repellent. I thought it might help establishing rapport if I could have a brief conversation with them. So ….
“Hi! Friends! Will you leave me alone? I am only a traveler, not an invader or conqueror.”
“ …. *%$@* ….”
“I know your ancestors have been on this land long before any human beings ever set their feet. But, can we share the space for now? I am leaving tomorrow.”
“…. &^@#*^…”
I slept in my car because of the rain forecast. In the middle of night, I was woken up by the loud buzzing noise, only to realize I was not alone. There were quite a few uninvited mosquitoes in my car too. They seemed to be much fiercer in the dark and were able to locate the spots I missed spraying insect repellent: the top of my head, back of my ear and bottom of my feet. How could they be so precise and so merciless!!
Aha!! Now I know. Remember in Greek Mythology; how the Trojan King Paris found the “Achilles tendon” and defeated that supposedly undefeatable warrior. Paris must have a mosquito-guided ancient weapon of some kind to precisely spot the unprotected tendon of Achilles.
In the morning, I found those mosquitoes “stuck” on the front windshield immobilized - under the bright and warm sunshine.
Yes!! Bring them to the light!!
The wooded campsites and nearby lake makes this campground a popular destination for weekend get away or vacation.
