Day 33 (08/10) - Dezadeash Lake, Haines Junction, Whitehorse

Haines Highway

Haines Highway indeed was spectacular and worth travelers’ every effort to come. The steadily change of elevation and the variety of terrains make this route one the most beautiful driving experiences I had. The scenery varies from costal forests, river shore drive, and glaciated mountains to the white cloudy summit. Standing alone at Haines Highway Summit yesterday, I stretched my arms and heaven felt so tangible. I was once again overwhelmed by the indescribable beauty of the majestic view. My heart echoed and I was vulnerable.

Passing Haines Junction around noon today and continued to Whitehorse. I shopped grocery then left the city around 4:00 in the afternoon.

Checked into a hotel room in Dawson Peak Resort on my way to Watson Lake, I enjoyed a good hot shower and watched sunset in the front porch.
Dezadeash Lake is 30 miles south of Haines Junction. I stayed here last night.
My campsite has a beautiful lake view ...
and mountain view.
Continue Haines Highway to Haines Junction.

A couple rangers mentioned before that, this year, trees are "confused" by the unusual weather changes. Some leaves turn yellow much earlier than they should be. Others remain green as normal in this time of the year.

Pass Haines Junction again but did not stay long this time.
After buying grocery, I had a lunch in Whitehorse, then continue driving south on Alaska Highway toward Watson Lake. Stop at Dawson Peak Resort, 120 miles southeast ot Whitehorse.
This is a beautiful lake front resort. I stayed in a hotel room that has a view to the lake.
Beautiful sunset around 10 o'clock at night.
